Police are investigating a break-in at an LGBT community centre in Pennsylvania.
According to NewNowNext, the site was smashed with bricks and a small donation box was stolen.
The LGBT centre reported the incident in a Facebook statement yesterday (6 January).
“Overnight, someone smashed the glass window to the front door of the LGBT Center of Central PA office in Harrisburg, entered, took a donation bin with a small amount of cash, and left.”
“No one was in the centre at the time. Harrisburg police are investigating the incident. As we work on moving forward from this disruptive act, the LGBT centre remains open, welcoming, safe, and steadfast in its mission to create common ground for the LGBT community and its allies.”
As of now, it’s unclear if the break-in was a hate crime or robbery. In retaliation, staff of the centre are holding an all-ages event, #ThrowPartiesNotBricks, tonight (7 January) to show they won’t be cowered.
Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
