Tom of Finland illustrations have become-world famous for their erotic, exaggerated depictions of masculinity. Now, the story of the man behind the pictures is being told, and while we’ll have to wait until early 2017 for the full film, the first trailer for Tom of Finland is finally here.

The biopic tells the story of Touko Laaksonen, a Finnish World War II veteran, and how his experiences as a queer man in post-war Europe influenced what would becoming some of the most easily recognisable queer art in the world, and a figure for sexual liberation across the continent and further afield.

Tom of Finland is set to his cinemas in early 2017. Watch the trailer below:
