Many people may not have time to go to the gym, but we ought
to at least take the stairs instead of the escalator. But we don’t.
How to convince people? By telling them about the horrible
effects of being unfit? The heart disease, your muscles giving way to fat, the
fatigue, the prolonged illnesses, the susceptibility to infection…
Nope, that doesn’t work either.
We know all that and still, the escalators are full.
Most people do either what they have to do, or what they
want to do. So as we don’t have to take the stairs, the lovely clever folks
over at thefuntheory.com came up with a great way to make us want to.
The Fun Theory is a
site dedicated to the idea that the easiest way to change people’s behaviour is
to make things fun.
To get people to take the stairs, they turned it into a
giant piano, and welcome 66% more people than normal to the wonderful world of
taking the stairs.
To that end: observe.
