What's all this about, then? The Dublin Front Runners Frontrunners Athletic Club will launch the inaugural Dublin 8km Pride Run in June 2012, as a part of the Dublin Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Pride Festival (LGBT).
That's a mouthful. Can we call them the DFR? We can.
So, tell me a bit more about this.
The race is aimed at members, friends and the wider community. DFR members range from recreational joggers to competitive road and cross country racers and marathon runners.
And if I was interested in doing this run? The fun run race will take place in the Phoenix Park on Friday 22nd June at 7.30pm.
So, what's it all in aid of?
One of the aims of the Dublin club is to combat homophobia both (in sport, and in general.) Ireland has relatively few openly gay people participating in sport at a high level. The club hopes that their presence will increase diversity in the sporting world and ensure athletes from all backgrounds feel able to join any club and compete.
Hurrah. So...it's 8km? That's 5 miles in old money.
And where is it, exactly?
Acres Road, Phoenix Park
