BRITAIN'S EUROVISION ACT 2012
BRITAIN'S EUROVISION ACT 2012
Wow.

Seriously.

Everyone under 25, go and ask your parents. Everyone a bit older: seriously. wow, right?

A man so wise in years, the press use the word 'crooner' to describe him - Engelbert Humperdinck - is to represent the UK at this year's Eurovision Song Contest.

Here after referred to by this reporter as The Dinck, Engelbert (real name Arnold Dorsey...yeah we'd change that, too), is 75 years old, and will be the oldest participant to ever take part in the contest.

What song could possibly suit this experienced talent, yet gel into the style of Eurovision? (I don't know why we're being so fussy, we frequently send any old tosh.) Anyway, the song is as yet unknown, but the BBC have announced it will be written by Grammy-winner Martin Terefe and Ivor Novello-winner Sacha Skarbek, who co-wrote James Blunt hit 'You're Beautiful'. We really hope he doesn't do a cover of James Blunt hit 'You're Beautiful'. We're going to nail our colours to the mast pretty firmly, here.

Even if you might think Engelbert is a blast from the past, he has sold 150 million records, and spent many a year storming the chart. He has received a bunch of award nominations and is one of only very few artists with a star on both the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Las Vegas Walk of Fame. What a lorra fame.

We don't know if he's famous abroad. Better than Daz Sampson, though, right?
