Moonlight is one of the front-runners for the awards, receiving five nominations including Best Picture. The gay-coming of age drama documents the life of a young, black gay kid growing up in a down-and-out part of Miami as he transitions from child to adult. Having opened in US cinemas earlier this year, the film has gone on to become one of the most critically acclaimed film of 2016.
