Boy George will not be returning to The Voice

2016-07-05
Boy George has revealed that he will not be returning to The Voice when it returns to screens later this year. The singing competition's latest instalment will be broadcast on ITV after airing on BBC One for five series since 2012, but will not include the Culture Club star this time around. Announcing the news on Twitter today (July 5) as fellow judge will.i.am confirmed own his return to the franchise, George wrote: "Not doing this season of The Voice on ITV by sending @iamwill my love. Watch this space for what I am up to! :)" will.i.am, who has also signed up for spin-off show The Voice Kids, said of his own future with the show: "I'm delighted to be continuing The Voice UK on ITV and being a voice of direction and guidance for the usual suspects. And I'm thrilled to add The Voice Kids to the mix.

"I know The Voice switched to ITV, but I'm not going to BREXIT The Voice UK. I'm happy to make ITV my home now. I love the UK."

Boy George's brief stint on the show saw him notably claim he once slept with Prince - a claim he later denied - and bore witness to a fiery exchange with fellow judge Paloma Faith, which subsequently left the New York singer in tears.

Presenter Emma Willis confirmed she will return to The Voice in its new ITV guise, but fellow host Marvin Humes has also confirmed his departure form the series.
