Colorado's House of Representatives has passed a bill banning gay conversion therapy.

On Tuesday (February 19), the House of Representatives in the American state signed off on a bill which will make Colorado – which has a Democratic majority - the 16th US state to ban the archaic practice on minors.

The bill was passed by 42 votes to 20 with two Republican lawmakers siding with the Democrats and supported the bill.

It will now be sent to the Colorado Senate for approval and if it clears the Senate it will head to Jared Polis, the openly gay Colorado governor.
