Comedian and friend of Attitude Tom Allen has put pen to paper for his upcoming memoir, ‘No Shame.’
Expect to laugh and cry beautiful unicorn tears in equal measure as he lifts the lid on his life, his loves and the shame of feeling like an ‘outsider’.
An eccentric kid growing up in 90s suburbia, in Bromley, Tom, 37, shares observations on his childhood, his adolescence, his family dynamic and living with his parents into his 30s.
The TV presenter delivers the funny and the heart-breaking as he reflects on his story thus far through his experience as a closeted/out/not active/still trying gay man.
“Finally, a chance for me to talk about myself!” Tom quips. “But seriously, I’ve always wanted to write a book about feeling different to the world around me.”
The Apprentice: You’re Fired host continues: “Growing up in the London suburbs I felt eccentric and unusual and like an outsider, and now, living as a gay person, there are moments when I still feel self-conscious and still find myself dealing with shame at times.”
“I wanted to write about it to make people laugh and to maybe let other people – gay or not – feel less weird after all,” Tom adds.
‘No Shame’ (published by Hodder Studio) is out 12 November – we’ve already added it to our must-read list.
Last weekend Tom took part in Attitude and Netflix’s BIG Eurovision Song Contest Quiz with a dramatic reading of a Eurovision classic.
It’ll make you ooh, aah…
