Dancing on Ice’s same-sex dance leaves John Barrowman in floods of tears.

Last night (January 5), the hit ITV show returned and for the first time in the show’s history – and any UK dance competition series – a same-sex dance couple took to the ice.

Steps star Ian ‘H’ Watkins danced to Panic! At The Disco’s ‘High Hopes’ alongside Matt Evers and the dance routine was hailed by judges and fans alike, leaving new judge John Barrowman in floods of tears.

When speaking to the couple, Barrowman – who is married to Scott Gill – said: "Seeing two men who represent me has affected me on so many levels.

“I’m overwhelmed. I’m almost speechless. It’s wonderful."

Following the history making dance, H took to Twitter to thank everyone for ‘messages of love and support’.

He wrote: “WE DID IT!!!!!!! THANKYOU EVERYONE for your messages of love and support!

“I’m totally gobsmacked! But tonights skate was bigger than Matt & I... it was a message of equality and inclusion! Let it resound across the world!”

Matt also tweeted: “Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

“I felt nothing but love in the room. So proud of @ianhwatkins and thank you all for the unending support.

“Now “it” doesn’t need to be a “thing”.”
