Elliot Page's wife Emma Portner is not here for inane questions from trolls after her other half came out as trans this week.

Juno star Page shared the news on Instagram on Tuesday, saying: "Hi friends, I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot.

"I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life."

Dancer Portner shared Page's coming out statement on her own Instagram, saying: "I am so proud of @elliotpage. Trans, queer and non-binary people are a gift to this world.

"I also ask for patience & privacy but that you join me in the fervent support of trans life every single day. Elliot’s existence is a gift in and of itself. Shine on sweet E. Love you so much."

"I am as fluid as can be"

Despite an onslaught of positive and supportive messages, one critic soured the mood by asking: "But now you know you have a husband. I hope you are not lesbien."

(Note the hilariously bad spelling of lesbian.)

To this Portner replied "I hope you know that my sexual preferences and gender identity are none of your business.

"For me to decide, thank you. Release your labels of me. I am as fluid as can be."

A truly perfect response.

Page has also received messages of praise from Miley Cyrus, Hugh Jackman, Ruby Rose and many more.
