Hayley Kiyoko dedicated her VMA win to “any queer women of colour”.

The ‘Breakthrough’ hitmaker - who performed at the awards ceremony as well - was awarded the first ever Push Artist of the Year Award at the music awards last night (August 20) and during her acceptance speech, she urged any queer woman of colour to follow their dreams.

She said: “This validates any queer women of colour that you can follow your dreams and I love my fans. My fans gave this to us. We did it 20Gayteen!

“20Gayteen! 20Gayteen!

“I just want you to know that I have been doing this for 13 years and I’m just literally this kid sitting in my apartment trying to get people to listen to my music and have the opportunity and the fact that I’m even, like, Cardi B, what?

“Like it’s insane! Two years ago I was playing for 50 people! This is insane, it’s crazy.”
