A brand new trailer for Netflix’s Heartstopper has just dropped, and we cannot wait for the full series!

Heartstopper sees secondary school students Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson meet and discover an unexpected connection, which leads them both, and their friends, on a journey of discovery of who they are.

Locke and Connor are joined in the series by Yasmin Finney as Elle Argent, William Gao as Tao Xu, Corinna Brown, and Kizzy Edgell as Tara Jones and Darcy Olsson.

As they appear on the cover of the Attitude May/June issue, Joe, Kit, Yasmin, and Will all spoke of how excited they were for fans to see the show, which started life as a popular webcomic by Alice Oseman.

Kit described being in the show, which showcases positive and uplifting LGBTQ stories, as a “real honour” adding, “That’s an honour that I am so grateful to have been given. I don’t think I’ll ever really forget that.”

Similarly, Will said he was “blessed” to have been a part of the show.

Joe thinks the show’s focus on such stories, compared to dramas like It’s A Sin, is what’s needed right now when LGBTQ people are under attack in many parts of the world.

He told Attitude it’s important to show LGBTQ youth in particular that “you can have happiness and you deserve happiness. I think it’s really important to push the idea that no matter who you are, or what you identify as, or your sexuality, you’re allowed happiness.”

Meanwhile, Yasmin affirmed that Heartstopper is here to take LGBTQ+ stories to the next level: “Listen, honey. If you’ve seen the comics, the show does not disappoint. And let me tell you that it really doesn’t.”

Heartstopper premieres on Netflix on 22 April 2022. The Attitude May/June issue featuring the cast of Heartstopper is out now.
