In Pictures: 'Naked' Warwick Rowers attend Manchester Pride

2014-08-28
image[9]Manchester Pride took place last weekend (August 22-25) - and two of the ever popular "Naked" Warwick Rowers put in an appearance. Rowers Laurence Hulse and Matt Charles marched in the parade before taking to the Pride stage to promote the Sports Allies programme, which reaches out to young people suffering from bullying, homophobia and self-esteem issues. Speaking to attitude.co.uk about his time at Pride, Laurence said: "We were a little bit shocked at how many onlookers knew who we were and wanted pictures and to talk about Sport Allies. Kym Marsh even got me on the Coronation Street float for a fleeting moment!" Lawrence then added: "We went to New York New York and then G-A-Y before heading home pretty exhausted! We had a really fun time, but more importantly the Warwick Rowers and Sport Allies showed their face at a Pride for the first time." "We're already making plans to have a bigger presence at future Prides and perhaps have our own float!" he went on to tease. Check out some pictures of the rowers at Manchester Pride below. image[1] image[8] image[2] image[5] image[9] image[7] image[4] Laurence and Matt are two of the members of Warwick University's Rowing Club who pose naked each year to help tackle homophobia in sport. Their 2014 calendar raised nearly £100,000, with the money going towards new boats for the club, funding the next calendar and the Sports Allies programme. The rowers have already teased the release of their 2015 calendar with a cheeky video - click here to take a look.
