Kylie Minogue has said “it was just business” stopping Kylie Jenner from trademarking her first name in a legal case.

The 24-year-old Kardashian tried to trademark her first name in 2014 ahead f the launch of her beauty brand which is now called Kylie Cosmetics.

However, Kylie (Minogue), 54, argued that she had been performing and trading under the name since 1996, which is before Jenner’s birth.

“It was just something that had to be done”

Appearing on What What Happens Live with Andy Cohen recently the ‘Golden’ singer was asked about the dispute and said “it was just business”.

She continued: “Look, when I was named Kylie, I think I met one person older than me called Kylie. So it’s kind of unusual.”

“I’ve spent a lifetime protecting my brand and building my brand, so it was just something that had to be done,” she added.

However, the two Kylies came to an agreement Minogue reveals.

Following Jenner’s filing for a trademark in 2014 for advertising and endorsement services, Minogue filed a lawsuit that it could lead to “confusion” which could impact her career.

According to People, Jenner’s application was rejected in the US in 2017. Minogue would later go on to launch her own cosmetics line called ‘Kylie’ in 2019.
