Little Mix star Jesy Nelson is taking an "extended" break from the girl group, it has been announced.
A representative for the band confirmed on Tuesday (17 November) that the singer, 29, will take a prolonged period of "time off" for medical reasons.
"Jesy is having extended time off from Little Mix for private medical reasons", a statement reads.
"We will not be issuing any further comment currently and ask media to please respect her privacy at this time."
Jesy has been absent from Little Mix's public appearaces for the last couple of weeks, citing illness.
The singer missed tthe final of the group's BBC One talent show The Search, as well as the MTV Europe Music Awards, which she had been due to co-host alongside her bandmates Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock.
Essex-born Nelson joined Little Mix in 2011 during the eighth series The X Factor, where the group became the first band to win the competition.
Her extended break comes just a week after the release of Little Mix's sixth studio album Confetti, which entered the Official UK Singles Chart at Number Two behind Kylie Minogue's Disco.
