Disney+ has confirmed when UK viewers will be getting season two of the popular teen comedy-drama Love, Victor - and we don't have long to wait.

Following an announcement last August that the TV spin-off series to 2018's Love, Simon had been renewed for a second season, Attitude can exclusively reveal that new episodes of Love, Victor will arrive on Star on Disney+ on Friday 18 June in the UK.

The cast of the popular series announced the news in a special video recording on Thursday morning (13 May), with show star Michael Cimino, who plays Victor Salazar, teasing: "We're so excited to show you what we've been up to".

Love, Victor season two is set to follow a now fresh-out-of-the-closet Victor Salazar (played by Michael Cimino) he begins his junior year at Creekwood High with his new boyfriend, Benji (George Sear), and navigates the challenge of being an openly gay athlete.

The new episodes will also see Victor dealing with his family as they begin to come to terms with his sexuality, as well as his heartbroken ex-girlfriend, Mia (Rachel Naomi Hilson).

Earlier this year, show stars Michael Cimino and George Sear - both of whom identify as straight - spoke to Attitude about their time on the series, with Michael, 21, revealing he received homophobic messages from people he knew after being cast.

"I think it shows where the world’s at and possibly how much this show is actually needed", Cimino told Attitude.

"It starts a conversation, and that’s the most important thing."

Love, Victor ranked as US streaming network Hulu's most-watched drama during its premiere week last June, and the show was later nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series at the 32nd GLAAD Media Award.

Since the first season finally arrived in the UK on Star on Dsiney+, British viewers have been praising its portrayal of young queer people coming to terms with their identity.

One newcomer to the series tweeted: "Every week Love, Victor fills my heart with joy. It’s easy to forget how pioneering it is for a teen drama to fully talk about queerness. Every week. In important, pure-hearted, hopeful ways."

"Teen Me would have killed for this show & I’m so happy for the present teens who have it."

The first season of Love, Victor is available to stream on Star on Disney+ now.
