Madonna called the Will & Grace cast by their characters' names, reveals Megan Mullally

Last week brought with it the news we've all been waiting for: Will & Grace is officially coming back for a brand new season. The classic NBC sitcom will return to screens for a short but undoubtedly sweet 10-episode run in the 2017-2018 season, and hopes will be high that the new episodes recapture the magic of the original series, which ran for eight years between 1998 and 2006. Show star Megan Mullally, aka (barely) functional alcoholic socialite Karen Walker, reacted to the news during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live last week, where she reminisced about the show's glory days, including its multitude of star-studded guest appearances. One of those was none other than Queen of Pop Madonna, who appeared in season five episode 'Dolls and Dolls' back in 2003. Despite her enthusiasm for her guest role as Karen's new roommate Liz, however, its seems that Madge had a bit more difficulty separating fact from the reality during her time on set. “Madonna was very cool. I thought she was really nice and really present. She worked really hard and she wasn't a prima donna,” Mullally recalled. “But she didn't necessarily know our real names in real life because why should she, who cares?” “Some of the cast were really offended, like, 'She doesn't even know my name!' and I was like, 'Who cares? Madonna's doing our show! It doesn't matter.'” “So she'd be like, 'Hi, Will, hi, Grace?'” Kimmel asked. “Yeah, kinda, yeah, yeah, yeah, but in a nice way,” Mullally admitted. “She doesn't need to know our names for crying out loud. She's doing our show! Who cares?” As for details about the show's return to screens, it appears the cast know as little as the rest of us. “We didn't even really know officially until a day before yesterday that it was really officially real, for real, coming back,” Mullally admitted. The Will & Grace 10-episode revival is set to air on NBC in the 2017-2018 season.
