Madonna reads illuminating extract from biopic script - and it gets pretty personal

"It's the little things that you take for granted in life"

From kissing Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera on stage in 2003 to her 1992 Sex book and Erotica album, Madonna's career has been something of a sexual odyssey.

And a new excerpt from her upcoming biopic takes us back to where it all began: Madge discovering masturbation as a 19-year-old student.

Well, why not? It's decidedly on-brand - and in a good way!

"She was a life-saver"

The reveal came as the 'Unapologetic Bitch' singer shared a video of herself hard at work on the project with screenwriter Diablo Cody yesterday. In the video, the star reads aloud: "I discovered masturbation when I was 19. This dancer girl brought it up to me. She said: 'Do you have a boyfriend?' I looked at her like she was speaking Arabic."

The star says the girl responded: "'I don't blame you, masturbation is so much more enjoyable.'"

"The concept of masturbation had not even occurred to me," Madonna then says. "'What do you mean?' [She replied]: 'Don't tell me you don't masturbate!'"

"[I responded]: 'How do you do that?' So she described it to me. And I went home and tried it that night and I made myself c** and I went okay, now I get it! That's what people are supposed to feel during sex. That girl that told me about masturbation, she was a lifesaver."

"It's the little things that you take for granted in life," she added.

Announcing the film last year, Madonna said in a statement: "I want to convey the incredible journey that life has taken me on as an artist, a musician, a dancer - a human being, trying to make her way in this world."

The 62-year-old added of the as-of-yet untitled Universal Pictures biopic: "The focus of this film will always be music. Music has kept me going and art has kept me alive. There are so many untold and inspiring stories and who better to tell it than me.

"It's essential to share the roller coaster ride of my life with my voice and vision."
