The actress - who is best known for playing Big Boo on the acclaimed Netflix drama - will lead this year's parade through the streets of the city. On joining Manchester Pride 2014, DeLaria said: "It’s an honour to be invited to marshal the Manchester Pride parade. I can’t wait to return to Manchester. The girls there are really hot!" Mark Fletcher, Chief Executive of Manchester Pride, said that he is "excited" to welcome the actress to Manchester later this month. "Not only is she an incredible performer but she’s an inspiration for the global LGBT community," he added. "We know she’ll bring her unique charm and personality to really get the crowd going and kickstart the parade with a bang." Back in 1993, DeLaria became the first openly gay comic to perform on US television, and has starred in Will and Grace, Friends and the Tony-nominated revival of The Rocky Horror Show. Anastacia, All Saints and Conchita Wurst are among the acts confirmed to perform on Manchester Pride's Main Stage. Manchester Pride’s Big Weekend takes place over the summer bank holiday (August 22-25). Tickets are available now on 0843 208 1844. Weekend tickets are priced at £22, while day tickets are also on sale starting at £12.50. The free parade is due to set off at 1pm on Saturday August 23 and will run from Liverpool Road to the end of Whitworth Street – right by Manchester’s gay village.
