The Queer as Folk soundtrack is being turned into a classical concert.
The hit Russell T Davies show – which catapulted Manchester’s Canal Street to fame – documented the lives of a group of gay men in the northern city and followed their turbulent love lives.
The show starred Charlie Hannun, Aidan Gillen and Craig Kelly.
But now, nearly 20 years after the show first aired, the soundtrack is being given the classical treatment during a one-off performance with a live orchestra, the Manchester Evening News reported.
The soundtrack featured the likes of Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Am What I Am’, Patrice Rushen’s ‘Haven’t You Heard’ and ‘Love Pains’ by Yvonne Elliman.
Now, as part of Still Doin’ It Live! at Manchester’s Albert Hall – which takes place on February 22 – the live show will be produced by Rob Ellis and who said it was an “honour” to produce the show.
He said: “It’s an honour to be producing the ultimate birthday party alongside Manchester Camerata, a superb team and a glittering list of guest star performers.
“As with the TV show, audiences should expect shocks and surprises in abundance.”
