On this rainy Tuesday, what is better than listening to the new single by queer New York duo The Ballet.

Well, we are here to help.

The duo – including Greg Goldberg and Craig Willse – have released their brand new single, ‘But I’m a Top’, ahead of their fourth studio album, ‘Matchy Matchy’ which is set to be released on May 17, but can be pre-ordered here.

The new single can only be described as a A-ha’s ‘Take on Me’ with the monochrome tones of The Smiths and it’s unbelievably catchy.

When talking about the single, Goldberg said: “’But I’m a Top’ is a playful response to the ways that gay culture can be attached to norms of masculinity and femininity.

“The narrator is frustrated with these norms and expresses a desire for others to see him/her as he sees himself/herself – a fantasy as compelling as it is impossible.”

For those who have yet to hear the playful music by the duo, The Ballet were formed in 2005 and self-released two previous albums which caught the attention of the now-defunct indie label Fortuna Pop!

The Ballet are also set to perform a select handful of Spanish headline tour dates in Barcelona this week as well as taking to the stage at Madrid Popfest 2019 over the weekend.
