After two months of filming that's seen hundreds of drag queens
and mountains of A-list celebs
descend on the British capital - not to mention a show-stealing appearance
from Patsy and Edina at the British Fashion Awards - Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie
finally has an official release date!
The news that the iconic BBC sitcom's big screen adaptation will be hitting UK cinemas on July 1, 2016 was announced on Twitter yesterday (December 9), before being confirmed by Jennifer Saunders herself.
An official plot synopsis teases that Patsy and Edina end up in the south of France on the run from the paps after the desperate duo are involved in a typically embarrassing public incident.
“Edina and Patsy are still oozing glitz and glamour, living the high life they are accustomed to; shopping, drinking and clubbing their way around London’s trendiest hotspots. But when they are blamed for a major incident at an uber fashionable launch party, they become entangled in a media storm and are relentlessly pursued by the paparazzi.
“Fleeing penniless to the glamorous playground of the super-rich, the French Riviera, they hatch a plan to make their escape permanent and live the high life forevermore!”
