Renée Zellweger makes passionate show of LGBTQ support at Pride in London - WATCH

The 'Judy' star made a surprise appearance on the main stage in Trafalgar Square on Saturday (6 July).


Renée Zellweger demonstrated her LGBTQ allyship during a surprise appearance at Pride in London on Saturday (6 July).

The Academy Award-winning star of Chicago and Bridget Jones's Diary drew rapturous applause from the crowds gathered in Trafalgar Square as she took to the main stage to give the gays an exclusive first look at the brand new trailer for Judy Garland biopic Judy.

Taking the opportinity to deliver a passion message about LGBTQ equality, Zellweger, 50, paid tribute to the heroes past and present who have fought for change over the last five decades.

Sporting rainbow glitter on her face, she declared: "Can I just take a second for appreciation and acknowledgement of the courage and the suffering and the struggle of all of those over the last 50-plus years in the fight for what we all know are fundamental human rights.

"God bless them, and God bless everyone of you here today! Can I get an 'Amen'!"

Zellweger, who also spoke with Mayor of London Sadiq Khan backstage following the politician's own appearance on the Pride in London main stage. is making her next big screen appearance as gay icon Judy Garland in upcoming musical biopic Judy.

Set to hit cinemas in October, the film follows the final year of Garland's life leading up to her death from a barbituate overdose in 1969 at the age of 47.
