LGBTQ icon The Babadook is getting a limited Pride edition because… why not?
For those who may not know, The Babadook is a 2014 horror film about a mother raising her son in the aftermath of her husband's death.
After reading a pop-up story about Mister Babadook, a top hat clad monster who torments people after they find out about his existence, the Babadook comes after the pair in a variety of creepy ways.
And, although the film does not have any queer representation, the Babadook became an LGBTQ icon and we still do not know why.
So, to celebrate Pride Month, IFC Midnight – the distribution company – revealed they have teamed up with Shout Factory to release a special Pride edition of the horror movie.
Even better, a portion of sales will go to the LA LGBTQ Center… what a gay icon the Babadook is!
To celebrate #PrideMonth, we’ve teamed up with @ShoutFactory for a limited edition of THE BABADOOK.
Even better than this? A portion of all sales in June go to the @LALGBTCenter: https://t.co/EKEfW92wvA
