'The Favourite' dominates the BAFTA Awards 2019 and takes home seven out of 12 nominations

The Favourite is this year’s big BAFTA winner.

At last night’s EE British Academy Film Awards, Yorgos Lanthimos’ new movie dominated the prestigious film awards and took home seven out of the 12 nominations and was named Outstanding British Film.

Olivia Colman took home the BAFTA for Leading Actress while co-star Rachel Weisz received Supporting Actress.

The film – which follows the love affair between Queen Anne and two female consorts - also won Original Screenplay, Costume Design, Production Design and Make Up & Hair.

Attitude’s former cover star Rami Malek also won Leading Actor for his performance as Freddie Mercury in the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody – which also took home the award for Sound.

The Mexican movie Roma won four awards including Best Film, Director, Cinematography and Film Not in the English Language.

Supporting Actor was awarded to Mahershala Ali for his role in Green Book and A Star Is Born won Original Music.

Vice – which is based around Dick Cheney – took the BAFTA for Editing and Marvel’s Black Panther was award Special Visual Effects

BlacKkKlansman won Adapted Screenplay, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse took the award for Animated Film and Free Solo received the Documentary award.
