Veronica Green has revealed she’s received apologies and acknowledgments from Drag Race UK series two queens who underestimated her at the start of the competition.

The star – who is returning for series three, launching on BBC iPlayer tonight – bowed out halfway through series two due to a coronavirus diagnosis.

She was initially regarded as an underdog by co-stars but emerged as a frontrunner after the Rats: The Musical episode.

“Sometimes we don’t see people coming”

When asked by Attitude about her treatment by her former co-stars, Veronica said “I’ve had several conversations with a few different queens post-show. It’s the nature of the beast, really. Sometimes you don’t see people coming. I’d struggled to get a foothold in the drag scene anyway, so by nature of that, my name hadn’t been thrown around a lot.

“[Also] I kept my cards close to my chest and I think that was one of my biggest strengths.

“People didn’t know what I was capable of and what I could do. But I have had a couple of apologies. But, it’s the show. It’s a competition.”

The 36-year-old added: “I’m not a victim here. I was definitely being a wolf in sheep’s clothing!”

Drag Race UK series 3 episode one is due to drop in iPlayer at 7pm.
