Zachary Quinto and Billy Porter to voice gay Disney dads in The Proud Family reboot

The stars will join the original cast in the new revival headed for Disney+ in 2022.

Billy Porter, Zachary Quinto and EJ Johnson have joined the cast of the Disney+ animated sitcom revival, The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, coming to the streaming service in 2022. 

Porter (Pose) and Quinto (Star Trek) will voice Randall and Barry Leibowitz-Jenkins respectively - mixed-race adoptive parents to 14-year-old activist Maya Leibowitz-Jenkins, who it's been previously announced will be voiced by Keke Palmer.

EJ Johnson (Rich Kids of Beverly Hills) will join the cast voice non-conforming trendsetter Michael Collins, the best guy friend to the main character, Penny.

The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder follows the story of Penny Proud (Kyla Pratt) a talented African-American teenager and her family, parents Oscar (Tommy Davidson) and Trudy (Paula Jai Parker), twin siblings BeBe and CeCe, and her grandmother Suga Mama (JoMarie Payton)

Penny will be joined in her adventures by her friends, Dijonay Jones, LaCienega Boulevardez and Zoey Howzer, among others.

It originally ran on the Disney Channel from 2001 to 2005, before being revived last year.
