Elton John will not play at Donald Trump’s inauguration

By Fabio Crispim

President-elect Donald Trump is big fan of Elton John and regularly used the singers’ music for rallies during the campaign, though it looks like Trump won’t be getting his own inauguration performance after all.

Speaking to BBC Hardtalk, president-elect’s transition team member Anthony Scaramucci stated that Elton John will be performing a concert for Donald Trump’s inauguration in January before stating that Trump would be “the first American president in US history that enters the White House with a pro-gay rights stance.”

It looks like he’s wrong on both counts and spoke a little too early.

According to the Huffington Post, a representative for Elton John denied the performance by saying, “Elton will not be performing at Trump’s inauguration.”

This shouldn’t come as a surprise as Elton John previously asked Trump to stop playing his music at rallies and has openly supported Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

The 69-year-old singer even performed at a Clinton fundraiser and, speaking at the event, said: “We need a humanitarian in the White House, not a barbarian,” before adding that Clinton embodies “equality, decency, kindness and respect.”

Back in July, Elton John shared his concerns about Trump being elected, stating that he fears for the world and for the AIDS situation.

Trump will be inaugurated on January 20 next year, but who’s performing? We just don’t know.
