Bridgerton heartthrob Jonathan Bailey has revealed what happened to the modesty thong he used during a memorable and steamy bathtub scene.

In the second season of Netflix’s period drama, Jonathan plays the Viscount Anthony Bridgerton who finds himself caught between two sisters, one out of duty and one out of pure desire.

It’s this second sister, Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley) that is on his character’s mind during the bathtub scene in question.

“I still have it to this day”

Speaking to the LA Times about the scene, Jonathan admits filming that scene was a bit embarrassing.

“There was actually a camera in the water between my legs looking back at me,” the actor laughs. “So it was almost like a water birth. And I remember afterwards, I was so appalled at myself over the day that we had experienced and so confused, because you can’t really explain it to anyone.”

The scene, which had many fans in a flutter, was filmed around the time Covid restrictions were beginning to lift in the UK. After filming Jonathan says he went to met some friends at the pub.

“When I got up to get the second round, I was like, ‘I’m chafing a bit.’ And I realized I still had my modesty thong on because I was so traumatized and I ran so quickly from set that I hadn’t even taken off my little pouch. I still have it to this day.”

We’re glad to know it’s been kept safely. He might need it again soon as well, as both Jonathan and Simone have signed on for the third season of the Regency era show.

Commenting previously on the show’s lack of sex scenes in the second season compared to the first Jonathan told USA Today in March: “What you lose in sex scenes you gain in a deeper human understanding, which hopefully enriches the world so that the future intimacy scenes won’t be the heavy feature, and (you) won’t have to lean on them as much,” he says arguing that it’s right to “keep them [the audience] on their toes a bit”.

He continued: “It would have been wrong for Kate and Anthony to have got physical any sooner than they did. And I think the payoff is really earned.”

Bridgerton is streaming on Netflix now.
