It appears the day has finally come: Britney Spears is returning to the music industry and with an Sir Elton John duet no less.

The pair have reportedly recorded a new version of John’s beloved 1971 ‘Tiny Dancer’ that is lined up for release next month by Universal Music, according to music industry sources reported by both People and Page Six.

It is said the collaboration was John’s, 75, idea and they quietly met at a Beverly Hills recording studio last week for Spears, 40, to feature on the new recording.

The new cut of the track is produced by Grammy-winning Andrew Watt who has previously worked with John on ‘The Lockdown Sessions’ that saw John’s classic songs revised.

“This was Elton’s idea, and Britney is a huge fan,” the Page Six insider source says. “They have recorded a remix of ‘Tiny Dancer’ as a full duet — and it is incredible,” the source continues.

“They’ve already played it for people at their record label, and everybody is freaking out. It is so good. They are saying this is going to be the song of the summer.”

On Saturday (23 July) night, the ‘Toxic’ hitmaker and her husband spent the evening with actor Taron Egerton who embodied John in the 2019 musical biopic Rocketman.

Spears and Egerton, 32, posed hugging for a now-deleted Instagram post.

‘Tiny Dancer’ would be the first music Spears has released since her 2016 critically lauded album Glory as well as her first time releasing music after her 14-year conservatorship was terminated in November 2021.

People’s source said that Spears is “talking a lot about her career” now her conservatorship is over.

The source added that Spears “loves creating music and wants to give her fans a new album. It seems like she is focusing on one thing at a time.”

Earlier in July, Spears posted a haunting rendition of her debut single “…Baby One More Time” revealing that she has wanted to release an updated version of the track.
