Britney Spears deletes Instagram account and confirms social media break following engagement
The 'Toxic' singer, 39, says she's taking time away to focus on her recently announced engagement to Sam Ashgari.

Britney Spears has deleted her Instagram account but has assured fans that she’s done so she can take a break from social media and focus on her engagement.
On Sunday (12 September) the ‘Stronger’ singer announced on social media that she and boyfriend Sam Ashgari had got engaged, showing off a gigantic diamond ring.
Fans seem to have got themselves worked up after noticing the star’s Instagram account had vanished, especially after she had posted about the conservatorship that has governed her life since 2008.
“Don’t worry folks”
Not long before her account disappeared without a trace Britney, 39, had posted about being “manipulated by the system” for 13 years, as reported by Newsweek. She also shared screenshots of an article that discussed growing up and how external control can weaken individuals and cause anxiety and depression. Both are things Britney says she’s experienced as a result of the conservatorship.
The caption to Britney’s Instagram post also read: “I’ve waited 13 years and counting for my freedom !!!!! Again … team #FreeBritney you guys f****** kick ass 💪🏼 !!!!! Love you so much and God bless”
Following her fans’ concerns the ‘Oops… I Did It Again’ singer posted on Twitter to say: “Don’t worry folks … just taking a little break from social media to celebrate my engagement 💍😉 !!!! I’ll be back soon”. Recent RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 6 winner, Kylie Sonique Love, admitted to having been scared for the singer’s well being.

While some expressed relief that Britney was ok, others believed that the account had been closed down by Britney’s team as they weren’t happy about the singer’s last Instagram post and were now trying to convince everyone things were ok.
However, Britney’s lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, confirmed to Page Six that it had been Britney’s choice to delete her social media account with another source telling the paper Britney is “happy and in a great place”.
It follows recent news that Britney’s father, Jamie Spears, has filed to end the conservatorship saying, “Recent events related to this conservatorship have called into question whether circumstances have changed to such an extent that grounds for the establishment of a conservatorship may no longer exist.
“If Ms. Spears wants to terminate the conservatorship and believes that she can handle her own life, Mr. Spears believes that she should get that chance.”
A judge now needs to approve the motion with the next court hearing set for 29 September.
