Colton Underwood has revealed the date for his new documentary series, Coming Out Colton, which will be available on Netflix on 3 December.

The series is said to document the Bachelor star’s journey coming out as a gay man after confirming his sexuality in an interview with Good Morning America in April.

Shortly after he came out, it was announced that Underwood would be working with Netflix on a series documenting his life.

"I'm looking forward to sharing more of my story"

Posting on Instagram, Colton revealed a personal story about the image of himself featured in the promotional material.

"This image was captured moments after I came out to my dad, which was one of the most meaningful parts of my coming out journey," Underwood explained. "I'm looking forward to sharing more of my story with you including the lessons I've been learning along the way," he continued.

Variety reports the six-episode series will actually show Colton coming out to friends and family as well as addressing the controversy around his coming out.

Initially, it was announced that the gay Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy would be featured as a 'gay guide' to Underwood. The idea attracted some criticism, but Gus later said the idea of being a guide had put a "sour taste" in his mouth adding: "I don’t want to come across as if I’m this holier-than-thou educator that knows everything. I don’t. I’m still learning myself."

There was also backlash over reports that Colton’s former girlfriend, Cassie Randolph had filed a restraining order against him in 2020. Randolph alleged she had been stalked and harassed by Underwood, but later dropped the restraining order.

The Bachelor star addresses the controversy regarding Randolph in an interview with Variety saying: “I did not physically touch or physically abuse Cassie in any way, shape or form. I never want people to think that I’m coming out to change the narrative, or to brush over and not take responsibility for my actions, and now that I have this gay life that I don’t have to address my past as a straight man.”
