Drag Race UK vs The World‘s first eliminated queen Lemon has addressed the franchise’s sometimes toxic fandom, telling the trolls to “get friends”.

Pangina Heals selected the Candian queen for an early exit after she and Janey Jacké wound up in the bottom of the new show’s first episode this week. In response to the decision, haters sent Thai queen Pangina racial abuse and death threats.

Speaking to Attitude and Tia Kofi on Tea Time in association with Taimi, the Canada’s Drag Race star slammed the what Tia calls “nonsense hate”.

“I haven’t seen any of it – unfortunately people are a lot bolder in people’s DMs than they are publicly,” said Lemon.

“Anything I’ve seen I’ve quickly blocked and removed from my life. But it’s just… I don’t get it. Don’t you have friends?”

The star later continued: “If you really have the time to send hate mail, you need to go […] meet a person and talk to them. Get friends. I actually just think you’re lame. It doesn’t really affect me because I’ve never met somebody in my life who I thought was cool and inspiring, intelligent or talented, and then found out they send hate mail to drag queens.”

Drag Race UK vs The World started with a bang on Tuesday (1 February 2022), with Pangina and Jimbo impressing the judges with their talent show performances and runway looks.

On her negative critiques, Lemon said: “You need to remember, if I walked into a party, and there were a million people there, and four of them were like: ‘I don’t like you’, would that ruin my party? No.”

She added: “If they didn’t like me, that’s chill, no problem. Millions of other people do, so I’m going to do my shit for them.”

Drag Race UK vs The World continues on Tuesdays at 9pm on BBC Three.
