G-A-Y and Heaven owner is considering ‘closing and selling up’ the venues

Jeremy Joseph, the owner of G-A-Y, G-A-Y Late, and Heaven has said he is considering several options.

Jeremy Joseph has said he doesn’t know what the future holds for his G-A-Y clubs in London as he goes on holiday for the next few days.

G-A-Y Bar, G-A-Y Late and Heaven will re-open on Monday (20 June) after a week-long closure.

But speaking with the My Pride Playlist with Steve Denyer on Virgin Radio Pride UK recently, Joseph announced said he was pondering the future of the clubs.

“There are probably three or four options on the table, including closing and selling up,” said the club owner.

“I’m not saying that’s what I’m going to do. I don’t know what I’m going to do. I’m not even going to think about what I’m going to do. But I know what the options are,” he added.

He also said he’d think about said options while he was on holiday. 

Elsewhere in the conversation, Joseph reveals that he hasn’t had a break in the last two and a half years so the 7-day closure will ensure everyone involved with the venues is given a chance for rejuvenation.

Joseph said: “I don’t know what I want anymore, but I truly don’t know. You can’t make decisions while you’re open, while you’re doing things.”

“So the idea is to take a complete break to close the venues. Everyone has a break. Hopefully nothing can happen while that happens,” he continued.

Taking the chance to review his options while on his break, Joseph says that the time off will be essential to come to terms with the future of G-A-Y Bar, G-A-Y Late and Heaven.

Joseph has since tweeted an image of his dog boarding a plane (12 June) with a caption reading “Do Not Disturb”.

This rocky future for the London venues follows Joseph handing over ownership of G-A-Y Manchester to its manager, Lee Kellow, in October of last year.

Joseph said that the decision was prompted by the struggle with his mental health since the pandemic.

During this time he also spoke about the possibility of closing London’s G-A-Y Bar, G-A-Y Late, and Heaven as the pandemic left the business unstable.
