‘It’s Raining Men’ becomes ‘It’s Raining Them’ in celebratory new cover version
Spice Girl Geri Horner, who famously covered the song in 2001, has already given the track her seal of approval.

An artist and activist has given the iconic Weather Girls’ song ‘It’s Raining Men’ an inspired, inclusive makeover. The song has been released today (20 August) under the title ‘It’s Raining Them’.
Mila Jam, who is trans, has also reworked some of the song’s lyrics, with “tall, blonde, dark and lean, rough and tough and strong and mean”, to “cool, bold, strong and keen, proud and loud and here and seen.”
Available exclusively on Deezer, 100% of the streaming service’s revenue from the track will be donated to the charity Gendered Intelligence.
“Visibility saves lives”
Mila, who uses she/her pronouns, told Attitude of the song: “I recorded It’s Raining Them to keep pushing the conversation of reflection and inclusivity forward. Visibility saves lives and empowerment inspires!
“My version of the song means that words matter. They matter more than who you fancy. We need to express all of ourselves.”
The star furthermore added: “I hope this version sparks a global conversation of change! The trans and non binary community is filled with leaders, visionaries and superheroes. This is evolutionary. A new era. We are the narrative. Oh, and everyone should dance. It’s good for the soul!”

‘It’s Raining Men’ was originally released in 1983 by American duo The Weather Girls and reached Number Two on the UK singles charts, selling over 400,000 copies.
A memorable cover by Spice Girls star Geri Horner (then Halliwell) was released in 2001 and topped the UK singles chart, selling 440,000 copies.
Geri herself approves of the song, saying in an Instagram Story today: “This is about inclusion and freedom to be yourself always. He, she, them – whatever your pronouns may be. Everyone is welcome. Great job @themilajam.”
