Jonathan Bailey, Joe Locke and Kit Connor lead NTA 2022 nominations shortlist

Bridgerton and Heartstopper are both nominated as well.

The shortlist for this year’s National Television Awards has been released and among the LGBTQ talent and content featured is Bridgerton‘s Jonathan Bailey, as well as Heartstopper‘s Joe Locke and Kit Connor.

Bailey who took on the lead role in Bridgerton‘s second season as the Viscount Anthony Bridgerton is nominated for Drama Performance, while the series is up for Returning Drama. Charithra Chandran who played newcomer Edwina Sharma in the Regency-era series is up for Best Newcomer.

She joins Heartstopper‘s Joe Locke and Kit Connor in the category while the Netflix adaptation of Alice Oseman’s YA web-comic is up for New Drama.

Kit kept his reaction to voting opening simple with “:)))))”

The series about two high schoolers falling in love has been a smash success since it debuted in April and has since been renewed for two more seasons. It was also recently confirmed that filming for Bridgerton season three had begun with the cast, including Jonathan, sharing a short promo on social media.

Elsewhere, This Is Going To Hurt, starring Ben Whishaw is competing alongside Heartstopper while RuPaul’s Drag Race UK features in Talent Show and Mama Ru is in the Talent Show Judge category.

Graham Norton and his talk show are both featured on the shortlist and Sex Education is in the Comedy shortlist.
