Netflix’s Young Royals has officially wrapped filming on season two, which means we could be seeing new episodes of the Swedish show in the not-too-distant-future!

Focusing on the fictional Prince Wilhelm of Sweden (Edvin Ryding) who starts a relationship with fellow student Simon Eriksson (Omar Rudberg) while at an elite boarding school, the show’s first season ended with the couple’s sex tape leaking and the prince denying the relationship.

Posting on Twitter on Wednesday (11 May) Netflix said: “That’s a wrap on Young Royals Season 2! Can’t wait for everyone to see what’s next for Wilhelm and Simon” accompanied by screenshots of Insta stories from Ryding and Rudberg.

Ryding commented: “nobody’s ready for this”

The photos are both taken outside the fictional Hillerska school. With filming only having begun in February, it seems like things are moving at pace.

Hopefully, we’ll be getting more news soon!

The show makes a natural next step if you’re a fan of Hearrtstopper (and who isn’t!?) Both deal with issues of coming out and romance in high school, however, that is where the majority of their similarities stop.

YR deals with some of the darker issues that surround identity and sexuality all in the shadow of the Swedish monarchy, no less.

The first season of Young Royals is streaming on Netflix.

The Attitude May/June issue is out now.
