The 32-year-old actor posted two images on Instagram to share that he’s part of the LGBTQ+ community; both pictures are in black and white, the first with "f*ck, I think I love you” written on the pavement while the second is a piece of paper that reads "you are perfect to me”.

Baines is known for his role in the slasher flick The Girl in the Photographs but his major breakout TV role came with playing demonic villain Jonathan Morgenstern in Shadowhunters, the Netflix supernatural drama that had a three-season run.

Shadowhunters garnered a queer fanbase with the show’s long-running same-sex romance between Alec Lightwood (Matthew Daddario), a gay angelic guardian, and Magnus Bane (Harry Shum Jr.), a bisexual warlock.

In the comments of Baines’ Instagram post, fans and fellow co-stars wrote messages of congratulations to the actor following his announcement.

Alberto Rosende, who played Simon Lewis on the show shared the message: "So happy for you buddy! Happy Pride!🌈 😍

Sydney Meyer, who played Helen Blackthorn, also shared her pride for Baines: "Happy pride you beautiful human!! So very happy for you and proud of you. Lucky to know your beautiful heart.”

Tessa Mossey, Kimberly-Sue Murray, and Dom Sherwood also shared messages of support for their former Shadowhunters co-star.
