Attitude’s British Album of the Year: Adele, ’25’
By Josh Lee
Having single-handedly lifted the UK’s music industry from a post-recession gloom back in 2011 – by shifting 31 million copies of her album, 21 – this year, Adele consolidated her position as a British singer/songwriter/diva worthy of sitting alongside many of the great queens of music, from Taylor Swift to Mariah Carey.
After much anticipation, 25, her third album, arrived to universal accolades from the media, scoring five-star reviews from The Telegraph, Rolling Stone and more. It proved that the ‘Make You Feel My Love’ singer was no one-album wonder, but a bona fide legend in the making – and a more than worthy recipient of Attitude’s Album of the Year Award.
Currently on a sell-out world tour, Adele is using her platform and stage to fly the flag for LGBT acceptance. From inviting her drag doppelganger on stage to helping a gay couple propose and even dedicating a show to the victims of the Pulse Nightclub massacre, one of the biggest artists right now is making sure the whole world knows she’s with us.
We may have come a long way, but support on that scale still matters.
