Beyoncé wins at 2016 VMAs
By Josh Lee
MTV’s 2016 VMAs premiered last night. It featured a number of performances from Rihanna, Nick Jonas and even Britney Spears’ return to stage after almost a decade.
But the real news from the night comes from the winners of the VMAs. So who was the real winner?
Beyoncé of course!
She not only stormed the show with her medley ‘Lemonade’ performance, but she also took home four VMAs for breakthrough long form video, video of the year, best pop video and best female video.
When it came to accepting the video of the year, Beyoncé gave one empowering speech, thanking everyone who worked with her as well as her husband and daughter.
“First of all I’d like to thank my beautiful daughter and my incredible husband for all of their support. I’d like to thank Melina for directing such an incredible video and pushing me. I’d like to thank the choreographers for working so hard, I have the most incredible team.”

“They work tirelessly and they stay up all night and I could not have done this without you guys. I dedicate this award to the people of New Orleans, God bless you guys.”
It wasn’t just Beyoncé who took home awards though as Fifth Harmony bagged two VMAs with song of the summer and best collaboration for their ‘Work From Home’ hit.
Calvin Harris was lucky with two VMAs for best electronic video and best male video alongside Rihanna for ‘This Is What You Came For’.
Suffice to say, 2016 has been the year for Beyoncé.
