5.03am: Round up

All in all, that’s 6 awards for Mad Max Fury Road, 3 for The Revenant and 2 for Spotlight.

5.00am: Best Picture – Spotlight

This ensemble cast drama about the Boston Globe’s investigation into Catholic Church sexual abuse in Boston takes the Oscar top prize. Director Tom McCarthy says: “Pope Francis it’s time to protect the children and restore the faith.”

4.55am: Best Actor – Leonardo DiCaprio, The Revenant

HE DID IT! In his speech he said: “Climate change is real, it is happening right now, it is the most urgent threat facing our entire species, and we need to work together and stop procrastinating…Let us not take this planet for granted.”

4.47am: Best Actress – Brie Larson, Room

4.38am: Best Director- Alejandro G Iñárritu, The Revenant

Iñárritu also won this award last year for Birdman. His speech tackled diversity, as many other have throughout the night: “Let’s make sure that the colour of our skin becomes irrelevant.”

4.27am: Best Original Song – Writing’s On The Wall, Spectre

Sam Smith and Jimmy Napes have won for their Bond theme ‘Writing’s On The Wall’. Sam Smith said, “I stand here tonight as a proud gay man and I hope we can all stand together as equals one day.” He added, “I want to dedicate this to the LGBT community around the world.”

4.22am: Best Original Score – Ennio Morricone, The Hateful Eight

This is the first ever win for the legendary composer, on his sixth nomination. He received an Honorary Academy Award in 2007. #Oscars

4.12am: Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga is performing ‘Till It Happens To You’ from The Hunting Ground, nominated for Best Original Song, and has been joined on stage by survivors of sexual assault.

4.10am: Joe Biden

The U.S. Vice President has spoken out against campus sexual assault, and asked the audience to do their bit to change attitudes. “Let’s change the culture.” He has introduced Lady Gaga to the stage.

00.01am: Eddie Redmayne wants Leo to win too

They’re up against each other in the Best Actor category, but last year’s winner Eddie Redmayne says he hopes Leonardo DiCaprio takes the prize over him this year. Speaking at a pre-show event, he said, “In my mind it is pretty much certainly Leo’s year and he really deserves it. I am going along to enjoy the night.”

11.35pm: Watching from the UK?

If you want to watch the Oscars tonight from the UK, you can do so on the Sky Movies Oscar channel, or through Now TV. Alex Zane and Zoe Ball are currently on there hosting the pre-show before the ceremony begins at 1.30am UK time.

11.30pm: Red Carpet Arrivals

Stars are beginning to arrive on the red carpet at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, with just two hours to go before the show kicks off. They’ve also sharing snaps of their outfits on social media this evening.
