LGBTQ designers are being encouraged to take part in a new challenge set by Klarna and designer, Harris Reed, to create looks that encompass the themes of inclusion and sustainability.

The British-American designer has partnered with the global retail bank to find new and emerging talent in the fashion community.

Together, they’ve challenged young designers to create a look that represents a fluid world through a sustainable lens using recycled, eco-conscious materials.

Harris, whose style and brand can be described as ‘Romanticism Gone Nonbinary’, had a breakout year in 2021 after designing a number of show-stopping outfits for stars such as Harry Styles, Ezras Miller, and Emma Watson.

He believes in using fashion as a tool to spark conversation about social and political issues and injustices taking place in society.

Whilst everyone is welcome to enter, the LGBTQ community in particular is being encouraged to get involved and create a look using recycled, eco-conscious materials.

The lucky winner will have direct access to Harris Reed over an exclusive mentoring lunch with Harris, a truly revolutionary creator, who will be able to offer advice and guidance on the world of fashion and feedback on their design.

Harris Reed says, “My vision is that inclusivity and sustainability will become central to the future of fashion. There is no better way to foster this eco-conscious, inclusive culture than to instill this in the next generation of aspiring fashion designers.

“This competition builds on my previous work to champion gender inclusivity and I look forward to meeting with the winner and future creative talent.”

Klarna’s Chief Marketing Officer, David Sandstrom adds that Klarna has long focused on championing diversity and inclusion and that the partnership allows them to continue supporting the fashion industry and ensuring there are sustainable fashion choices available.
