A new Queen photo exhibition has launched in London, featuring images of the band never displayed in public before.

The pictures were captured by band member Brian May’s own stereoscopic (3-D) camera lenses. They went on display at Proud Galleries in London’s Embankment last week, and will be in display until 23 September.

The guitarist’s collection includes stage shots but also informal images taken on the road and during leisure time.

In the collection, late LGBTQ icon and famed showman Freddie Mercury is often captured in intimate surroundings unaware of the camera.

‘We Are the Champions’ singer Freddie passed away on 24 November 1991. The cause of death was bronchial pneumonia resulting from AIDS.

The show also includes stereoscopic photos taken by fans of modern day Queen with Adam Lambert as frontman. It also includes shots of the hit musical We Will Rock You.

The 75-year-old furthermore added: “When I rediscovered unprocessed film so many years later, I had no idea of the wonderful, colourful, musical, flamboyant moments they would bring back to life. Enjoy!”
