Drag Race UK’s Sminty Drop on her ‘iconic’ exit
"You've seen the booty that I'm working with. There's not much there."
Drag Race UK‘s Sminty Drop has opened up about her “iconic” exit from the fourth series of the reality show.
Sminty sashayed away from the competition after landing in the bottom two alongside Baby after the improvisation ‘Catty Man’ challenge.
Speaking to Tia Kofi for Attitude’s Tea Time the Manchester queen placed it “on par with Ms. Vanjie” – the memorable and highly memed exit of Vanjie Matteo from Drag Race‘s 10th season.
In her exit, Sminty took a moment to poke fun at herself and her twerking ability during the maxi challenge. Asked by Tia if she had learned to twerk since Sminty says, “You’ve seen the booty that I’m working with. There’s not much there.
“If I even try nothing’s gonna jiggle, nothing’s gonna move,” before likening her twerking to a drinks bottle crunching.
After showing off some improved moves with Tia Sminty promises “I’ll show you next time I’m in the club, I’ll do it properly.”
Sminty shares that had she been able to pick the teams for the main challenge the outcome would have been very different.
She also would have picked to work with Danny Beard and Cheddar Gorgeous as Pixie Polite did.
“I would have either been outshined again and panicked because they were being so hilarious that I panicked I wouldn’t have had anything to say to match that. So that could have made me look worse but I feel like whilst preparing to do the improv they probably would have given me some good material to stick with.”
She also reveals she was experiencing anxiety on stage and “watching myself literally be paralysed”.
On her final lip sync against Baby Sminty says she knew Baby was going to win.
“I literally just remember looking down at my outfit and looking over at Baby’s outfit and going how am I going to do this in this outfit?”
But after watching it back Sminty seems happy with her performance. ‘I put up a pretty good fight”.
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK continues to stream on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer every Thursday from 9 pm.
