8-year-old girl goes on amazing rant over Tesco’s ‘sexist’ children’s clothes – WATCH
An e8-year-old girl has gone viral on social media after going on an amazing rant about children’s ‘sexist’ clothing at Tesco.
The video featuresDaisy Edmonds as she contrasts the slogans on boys’ and girls’ t-shirts in the store and the rant was so great, Edmonds was filmed by her mum, Becky, who later shared it on Facebook.
According to The Metro, the boys’ shirts featured slogans such as “Hero” and “Think outside the box” while the girls’ said, “Hey!”, “Beautiful” and “I feel fabulous”.
In the video, Daisy questions what the slogans mean by pointing to the boys’ clothes and saying: “‘Think outside the box’, what does this mean? It means go on your adventures. let nothing stop you, go for your dreams.”
She then points to the girls’ clothing and says, “‘Hey!’ What does that even mean? I don’t find that inspiring. What part of ‘Hey!’ is great? I don’t get it.”
She then explains why she thinks the separation is unfair.
“It’s unfair because everyone thinks girls should just be pretty and boys should just be adventurous. I think that’s wrong because why should boys and girls even be separate when we’re just as good as each other.”
Becky released a statement and said, “Daisy doesn’t understand why there has to be separation. It’s the same with toys.”
“She loves exploring and being brave, and there is never anything that says anything like that on girls’ clothes. She thinks they should have unisex clothing. She should be able to choose what she wears. Who are Tesco to tell them what they can and can’t wear?”
A Tesco spokesperson said: We stock a wide variety of clothes suitable for girls and boys and listen to the views of our customers when reviewing our range.”
“We’d like to thank Daisy for her feedback and we can assure her that new styles will be arriving in stores shortly.”
