A ‘Grease’ prequel is in the works but is it really needed?
'Summer Loving' will detail the fateful encounter between Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson

A Grease prequel is in the works but we aren’t convinced.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount Studios is in the early stages of developing a prequel to the hit 1978 musical movie which starred John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John as Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson respectively.
Although a (terrible) sequel happened following the success of the original movie, it seems the studios cannot get enough of exploiting a franchise.
John August – the veteran screenwriter behind the likes of Big Fish and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – is set to pen the script for the prequel, which has been titled Summer Loving.
The prequel will tell the story of how Danny and Sandy met before the events of Grease, which the original film shows a snippet of at the very beginning of the movie.
It’s not known who will be taking over the roles as Danny and Sandy or much else about the production so it’s all just a waiting game now.
