ABBA are back! And we cannot contain our excitement!
Everyone needs some control but we are seriously excited to hear the new music from the four – Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad – and it is well overdue!
The band was originally planning to go ahead with an avatar tour but revealed that their meeting took had an “unexpected consequence”.
They told Swedish site Afton Bladet: “We all felt that, after some 35 years, it could be fun to join forces again and go into the recording studio. So we did.
“And it was like time had stood still and that we had only been away on a short holiday. An extremely joyous experience.”
Their comeback resulted in two new songs and one of them, I Still Have Faith In You will be performed by their digital selves in a TV special produced by NBC and the BBC, expected to air in December.
“We may have been old, but the song is new. And it feels good,” they added.
Two days ago, the group caused a stir when fans were told they were launching a comeback – but it was supposed to be virtual ‘Abbatars’ created to represent the four members of the Mamma Mia hitmakers.
A world tour for the virtual show is planned for 2019 and 2020 and looks to generate millions of pounds in ticket sales and we are not suprised.
According to Bjorn, old videos are being used to replicate how the band danced, dressed and sang so they can be reproduced while singing their numerous hits – which we all love!
He said: “You’ll hear the voices of ABBA coming out of the mouths of the Abbatars.
“You won’t be able to see that they’re not human beings. It’ll be spooky, I assure you, but great fun and no one has done it before.”
The group haven’t peformed since 1986 despite selling more than 400 million albums and they have all resisted reunions but are behind this new project.
