Adam Rippon has announced his engagement to Jussi-Pekka ‘JP’ Kajaala.

The Olympian revealed the news on Instagram yesterday, while also sharing that he and his new fiancé were apart for most of 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic.

However, the pair recently managed to reunite in Finland – and certainly made the most of things.

“I was there for a little over two months”

Sharing photos of he and JP celebrating, the former Attitude cover star said: “JP and I didn’t get to see each other for almost all of 2020 because of the pandemic. When there was finally a chance for me to go and see him in Finland, I jumped at it. I was there for a little over two months.

“While I was there, I would tell him about five million jokes that I would want to pitch during my 5 hour zoom meetings for our NBC comedy (hi, @billy4529 and @susankittenplan ). And he would drive me into the Finnish forest where I would attempt to try and “help” him shovel snow so he could keep working on the cottage he’s building.

“So, in between all that and binging the entire 4 seasons of The Crown, we bought ourselves some rings and said that magic word.. “duh!” We got ~*engaged*. [sic]”

Congrats both!

“I’m having a baby! Kind of”

Adam’s mother Kelly was one of the first to comment on the news, saying: “Changing my bio – ‘Mom of Seven.'”

A pretty much perfect response!

She added on her personal Insta (and this really is lovely enough to deserve repeating in full): “I am having a baby! Kind of.

“I am gaining another son. He’s out of the terrible twos, survived the tension filled teens and a fully grown successful businessman. He has also far surpassed the Rippon height requirement of 5’2” and one of the kindest humans you could ever hope to fall in love with your son.

“Welcome JP – Congratulations to you and Adam, may you share a lifetime of love.”

Rippon won bronze in the figure skating team at the 2018 Winter Olympics, making him the first openly gay US athlete to win a medal at the event.
