Adam Rippon joins athlete edition of ‘Dancing With The Stars’
The reality TV show will start later this month
It’s official: Adam Rippon is competing on Dancing With The Stars.
The figure skater will join a special athletes-only edition of the show called Dancing With The Stars: Athletes.
According to ABC News, the upcoming series will also feature basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Rippon’s best friend and Team USA’s Mirai Nagasu, ice skater Tonya Harding and hunky Winter Olympic lunger Chris Mazder.
The news was announced on Good Morning America on Friday (April 13) where it was revealed Rippon will be paired with professional dancer Jenner Johnson.
Speaking about the show, Rippon said: “I think I really hope I’m not shy. I think Jenna [Johnson] is going to have her hands full and I can’t wait.”
Rippon, who made headlines this week for sharing a kiss with fellow gay Winter Olympian Gus Kenworthy at the 2018 GLAAD Awards, had previously teased an appearance on the reality show.
Speaking on iHeartRadio’s Domenick Nati Show earlier this month, the 28-year-old revealed he would “definitely consider” appearing on the show.
Dancing With The Stars: Athletes will premiere on April 30 on ABC in the US.
